March 6, 2008 — MonoSol LLC, the world leader in water-soluble products, announces the appointment of John Singer as Vice President of New Business Enterprise Development. Singer is responsible for leading sustainability initiatives that further advance and commercialize new applications for MonoSol’s products worldwide.

“MonoSol is complementing its water soluble films line with several additional products that provide user convenience then disappear safely. Every product we make either dissolves, is ingested or can be re-pulped or recycled. The appointment of John to this leadership position is a clear indication of our consistent growth and commitment to provide innovative solutions to sustainable challenges,” said P. Scott Bening, President and CEO of MonoSol. “John is focused on bringing our new products to market and extending the value of our water-soluble based technology.”

Singer brings more than 15 years of business leadership experience to his position at MonoSol. Most recently, he was Senior Director of Marketing for Industrial Hand Tools at Danaher Corporation. Previously, he was Senior Product Manager for hardware products at Rubbermaid as well as Product Manager at GE Lighting. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Lawrence University and earned an MBA from the University of Illinois at Urbana.

“I am excited to take on such a pivotal role at MonoSol. We have a fantastic opportunity to expand our business by developing and commercializing very practical solutions to some interesting challenges,” noted John Singer. “Two of our new enterprise products – TerraLOC® and Food Grade Films – are gaining acceptance rapidly. Our research into sustainable packaging using water-soluble films promises to lead to additional breakthrough technologies that will complement the unit dose success of product such as Cascade 2in1 ActionPacs® and others.”

TerraLOC is a family of innovative dust abatement and soil stabilization products made from a patent-pending proprietary solution. Developed for use on helipads, runways, unpaved roads and other military, government and civilian locations, TerraLOC is biodegradable, harmless to the environment and easy to use. Upon learning of the environmental and safety benefits of TerraLOC, Indiana Congressman Peter Visclosky (D-IN) immediately saw the positive solutions TerraLOC offered to the United States Military. Congressman Visclosky was instrumental in securing funds to have the United States Military test and use the TerraLOC system.

MonoSol’s Food Grade Films are providing the ability for consumers and industrial food processors to conveniently and accurately dose ingredients. These soluble, edible films are ideal for the baked good industry where unit-dose packaging of dry ingredients is used in mixing operations. Several leading food companies are developing unit-dose products such as drink packs, mixes and in-process ingredients. In addition to unit dose applications, food grade films are being used as a spice delivery mechanism – the food grade film, which is coated with spices, is placed on meat or fish; the film dissolves, leaving an even coating of spices. Spice films are currently being sold in Europe and plans are in development to bring the platform to North America.
